Veanne Cox Returns to La Cage aux Folles; Heather Lindell to Play Anne

Tony Award nominee Veanne Cox (Company, Caroline, or Change) will return to La Cage aux Folles on April 5 as Mme. Dindon/Mme. Renaud, the roles she originated in the Tony-winning Broadway revival. Cox left La Cage in fall 2010 to appear in John Guare’s A Free Man of Color and was replaced by Allyce Beasley. The show continues its run at the Longacre Theatre, directed by Terry Johnson.

Also at the April 5 performance, Heather Lindell will jump from the supporting role of Colette to play lead ingenue Anne, replacing Elena Shaddow. Ashley Kate Adams joins the cast as Colette.

La Cage aux Folles currently stars Harvey Fierstein (she show's Tony-winning librettist) as Albin, Christopher Sieber as Georges, Mike McShane as M. Dindon/M. Renaud, Chris Hoch as Francis, A.J. Shively as Jean-Michel, Christine Andreas as Jacqueline, Wilson Jermaine Heredia as Jacob, Michael Lowney as Etienne and Bruce Winant as Tabarro.

Featuring a score by Jerry Herman, La Cage centers on Georges (Sieber), the suave owner of a glitzy drag club on the French Riviera, and his high-strung life partner and star performer Albin (Fierstein). The pair live a charmed life—until Georges’ son announces his engagement to the daughter of a conservative right-wing politician who’s coming to dinner.
